Just a note

I know I've been a real slacker on my Inspirational blog and for that I apologize but I have put an update there, if anyone is interested.
Love you all so very much. I wish you all a very happy and blessed New Year.

There's a story here...

By the time we got around to taking pics of Gracie and Ashton together..she was getting really tired of all the slipping and sliding in her satin dress and panties. But we thought it would be cute to sit her on Ashton's lap and take some pictures. Sounded like a really good idea at the time.
First pic..she's not sure she wants to sit on Santa's lap...
Second pic..she's looking for someone to rescue her...
Third pic...Ashton is looking for someone to rescue HIM. LOL.
I missed the very best shot here, cause just after I snapped the last pic, Ashton put his hand over her mouth because she was getting rather loud!LOL. It would have been a priceless shot, but it happened so quickly and of course someone removed his hand before I could get it.

Kit is another from KZCreats Dec. BlogTrain.

Santa came to our house

OK...maybe "Gracie" (yes, I've been over-ruled on what we are calling her) didn't like her Christmas outfit, but Ashton was more than happy to play Santa for us. He loved his Santa suit! And we thought he was the cutest little Santa we had ever seen.

Kit is from Angelscrapper's Christmas kit 2008.

Gracie's First Christmas

All dressed up for her first Christmas, Little Miss Chubby Cheeks did not know what to make of all the festivities. What she did know was.."you better hurry up and get this picture 'cause I do NOT like all these ruffles and bows". She wanted to chew on the bow on her dress, pull it up over her head and drool all over it. LOL Her Mamaw had a pair of matching white satin panties over her tights and she just could not stop sliding around when we tried to sit her up. She looked so precious but was much happier when her photo shoot was over and they changed her into her sleeper.

Kit is from KezCreates Dec.BlogTrain.

Our Girl Doll

This little one is a constant SMILE. She wakes from her naps with a smile that just melts your heart. One word to her and she's making those precious baby noises that let's you know she is a happy little girl. She spent the day with us yesterday and she and Big Mamaw had the best time just engaging in lots of "girl talk". Then of course, she told Big Papaw all about it. Oh what fun we had with this precious one. I thank God for the blessing us with not only our children but grandchildren and now great-grandchildren. God is good.

Our Boy Doll

I know you all have had the same feeling....you could take pictures of your little ones and never tire of it. I can't find the words to explain the joy that this little guy brings into our lives. I could snap pics all day long (and I sometimes do). Sorry if I bore you with him but my heart just overflows and I need to share. Thank you so much for looking in on our precious Ashton.

Will try to find the designer of this background and give credit.

Be Careful What You Wish For

Yep, be very careful what you wish for! You all know how much I love snow...well, we got it...LOTS of it! This pic was taken from the veranda last night when it had been snowing only about an hour. It's one of those wet, very heavy snows. You know, the kind when the power goes off. Thankfully, ours was only off for a few minutes at a time (several times). We called all the kids to check on them, all had power except our oldest son, Greg (who has CJ and baby Leiah living with them). But they are alright, they have gas fireplace and a generator. Youngest son, Kevin and his wife, Dawn (who is 3 months away from presenting us with another grandson) were both at work in Johnson City, only 7 miles away...they got off work at 6pm and got home at 11pm. All roads and interstates were nearly impassable. Lots of cars stranded. Today, it is such a beautiful sight and most roads are cleared.

Happy Anniversary to some very dear friends, Linda and Dennis (aka Farmer and Mrs McBrown). I hope you have many many more wonderful years together filled with beautiful memories (to the brim and overflowing).
Love to you both,

Is It Snowing Yet?

Though it was Thanksgiving Day when I took this pic of Ashton, we are eagerly awaiting the snow. This year I'm thinking he will be big enough to really enjoy it as much as Big Mamaw does. Oh what fun I am anticipating with him! That is if Miss Carol and Miss Linda don't hog up all the snow. LOL.

Background paper is from Christmas Blog 2008 designed by Wilma. The frame, snowman and poinsetta flowers are by our very own Miss Gerri.

A Special Lady

I stayed up extra late tonight just so I could get this on for you by morning (cause I know you will be up and about long before I am, lol). Anyway, wanted to wish this very special lady an extraordinarily happy birthday. She's a talented designer, our blog fairy, answers all our questions and most of all she's a very dear friend. I wish you a blessed day, Miss C and may all you birthday wishes come true. Love you big bunches !!

Ashton

This is a picture of our Ashton that I took last week. He is actually standing in our kitchen waiting for Papaw to sprinkle water in his face. He loves it when Gary wets his hand and lets the water drip on his face. (you can tell by the look on his face that he enjoys it...so it's not like 'water-boarding'. lol). Just one of the little games that he and Papaw made up. They have such fun together on our Saturday morning visits.
It took me forever to extract him from all the background surroundings and I thought Miss Carols painted paper with the rainbow was the perfect place to put him. Thanks for lookin' in on our little "pot of gold".

In Training

A true Southern Belle must begin learning at a very early age how to dress, pose and smile...if she feels like it...which in this case she doesn't... feel like smiling, that is. But that's OK..she's got the dressing and pose part down pat. lol. This is little Miss Leiah Elizabeth Grace's first professional photo session. There are more photos to come but wanted to get this one done in her 'Lil Dolly' dress. Thanks for lookin' in on our "little Southern Belle".

Granddaughters

Three of the six surviving grandchildren of George and Celia Hazelwood (all of which are granddaughters, but, there were only three grandsons in the group of 14 of us.) The picture is Ann, Mildred and me (I'm the fat one in the pink sweater, lol).

Page for Family Reunion

This is another page for our Hazelwood Family Reunion. It's titled "Music; It's in our blood" because we had and still have some really good musicians in our family. I grew up listening to them. My cousins, George, Ann and Johnny were on the local radio station every week and also every Saturday they played on stage at the local theater and they performed on the local TV station where Ann was a regular preformer. It is to them that I owe my love of music and oh how I wish I had inherited some of their talent, but alas, it was not to be. Of the three, Ann is the only one still living. She is in the picture above.

I'll have to research the kit used for this, (sorry).

One more grandchild.

Kevin and Dawn (our youngest son and his wife) are the parents of Cory, age 14; and Jacob, age 12. In March, they will present us with another grandson! At this stage, I thought all future babies in our family would be great-grandchildren...not so! One more grandchild and we lovingly await his entrance into our arms, he's already in our hearts.

A Happy Baby

is a beautiful sight. This is little Leiah playing "Pat-a- Cake" with Big Papaw today. She was in such a good mood and this evening they are taking her to get professional photos made...I thought this one turned out pretty good, LOL.

Cousin

This is a picture that I took at the recent family reunion. It is my cousin, Mildred. Just one of the sweetest ladies you would ever want to meet. At age 84, she was the oldest family member present. In fact, there were only a few who didn't attend and I really don't think any of them are older than "Mid". I am so glad that this picture came out so good. I think she's lovely. Thanks for looking in.

Guess Who??

Did you say "Ashton"? How did you know? Was it because it's Saturday and a page of Ashton is as predictable as Miss Linda's Ramblings on a Saturday morning? LOL. I really don't mean to bore you with this little guy, but when you have oohed and awwwed sufficiently you may be excused. I ran over to my friend Linda's "Random Thoughts" to grab the word art this morning. I could have sworn I had already downloaded this one, but could not for the life of me find it. I can see "organizing files" in my list of things to get done today.

Yep, Ashton visited this morning, we did the photo session, played really hard, had the most fun, made memories and now Big Papaw is napping on the sofa for an hour before he has to go pick up Jacob and Cory and take them to the church for young peoples outing. I think they are going to the huge corn maze. I, on the other hand, am staying in where it's nice and cozy and play with my pics in PSE (I mean get my computer files organized, yeah...that's what I meant to say.)
Y'all have a great memory filled day.

Just Tiff

Yes, in spite of the fact that this is the one who has had a gazillion prom dresses already (OK, maybe that's stretching it a little), we still call her Tiff. In my many years of parenting, grand parenting and now great-grand parenting, I have learned that every single one of them are unique in their own right. Tiffani Danielle is our, soon to be, 16 year old grand daughter, who does dance and both high school and competition cheer leading, and is on the track team. She can be so girly one day and such a "no hands back-flipping acrobat" the next. I love this pic of her. Can't wait to get the "real" one. I lifted this one from her Dad's cell phone, it's just one of the proofs. Didn't put a lot of frills on this page because it's one of her recent cheerleading pics and I didn't think it needed much. Thanks for looking in on "Just Tiff".

Miss Personality

Yep, little Miss Leiah is visiting for the weekend. Looks like she left the attitude at home this time. LOL. She was in such a good mood after a 3 hour drive, but then again, she got to sleep all the way here. Papaw Greg (our son) left at 7am to drive to Charlotte to bring CJ (oops, I mean Candace) and Leiah here for the weekend. He called me at 11 am and said "I'm on my way back with precious cargo." They stopped by our house for a couple of hours so Little Miss Personality had to under go a photo shoot by Big Mamaw. She seems to be developing her own little personality now. Smiling and cooing and soaking up all the attention. Here, she is propped up on the throw pillows on my bed. The teddy bear beside her stays on my bed,(it was Mom's and that black strap on it's arm is Mom's watch. My sister put it on the bear's arm and that's where it will stay). Thank you for looking in on Little Miss Leiah minus the "tude".

Little Miss Attitude?

Yep, it appears our little Leiah is copping an attitude with great-aunt Sue (Rhett's sister) who was just commenting on what cute little chubby cheeks she has, when I snapped this picture. "Well, yes, my cheeks are a bit chubby...so what's your point?"
Thanks for looking in on our newest little one. She will be visiting this weekend so there will be lots more pictures, hopefully without attitude.(however, she is sooo her mother's daughter LOL)

Just Playing With Ashton

I have no idea where I was going with this page. I just loved the pic of Ashton and played around with it in Photoshop for hours. I finally decided to stop when I came up with this...don't ask what all I did to it, I have no idea. LOL.
I do know that I used Angelscrapper's Fall Splendor background and one of her overlays (or maybe two, I'm not sure). Anyway, I had lots of fun doing this one even though I didn't know what I was doing. LOL. Thanks for looking in on me and Ashton playing.

Shhh...

A couple of weeks ago, we had Ashton for the day. I have hundreds of pictures of him in all his cuteness, but I had none of him sleeping and I think sleeping baby pictures are just so precious. Well, after a few hours of playing with Big Papaw, he was so tired that he just had to have a little (very little, lol) nap. I grabbed my camera just minutes before he woke up again, Big Papaw thinks I take this picture taking to extremes...I say "There is no such thing as too many pictures!"

Time Changes Things

We had such a beautiful fall day on Wednesday, so I decided we should take a drive. Last Saturday was our Hazelwood Family reunion, and being the nostalgic, sentimental old lady that I am...I had "Rhett" drive me to the place where I grew up. I hadn't been there in oh so many years, and was not prepared for the changes that had taken place over the years. I don't know what I expected..I thought there would be some renovation, after all, we're talking about the house I grew up in (LOL). The views in the pictures are different, the old one from the front..the new one from the side, simply because I didn't feel comfortable walking into a complete strangers front yard and taking a picture of their house. Anyway, this little excursion is what prompted my latest word art. If you can find a use for it click on my blinkie "Miss Scarlett's WordArt" on the right and go download it free. While you're there, help yourself to any others that you like. I only ask that you leave me a comment if you download..a simple thank you or even ty would be appreciated.

The background is a new creation by my friend, Linda at Random Thoughts, also listed on the right. The ribbon and bows are by another dear friend, Miss Gerri, you can drop in and pay her a visit also. Thank you ladies so much for sharing your talents.

I'm A Big Boy Now !

Yep, he's been doing this for about a week and he's so proud of himself. When he falls, he gets right back up and goes again. But, when he wants to get somewhere in a hurry, crawling is his preferred mode of travel. I know...we had him all day on Thursday, lol. He is such fun but boy, can he wear out us old folks. He's learned that if he makes funny faces we laugh, we clap, we say to each other "look at that expression!". Yep, Ashton has us right where he wants us...wrapped right around that little finger. Thanks for looking in on our little "miracle". (If you click on the picture, you can see that look of concentration).

Bulletin from Roving Reporter

When Miss Gerri told me that she and Al were going to "shuffle off to Buffalo", I didn't think she meant it literally! However, I just received this picture and report from our always reliable Roving Reporter. I guess she meant just what she said! Little Dreamer

Big Papaw lets Ashton sit on the banister around the front porch and he loves it. Loves, watching for cars, squirrels running through the yard, birds...whatever happens by. It seems there was a time lapse here when nothing went by and Ashton is off in his own little day dream. Oh, how we love this little guy!

Best Buddies

Big Papaw is Ashton's best buddy and vice-versa. You would have to see the two of them together, on his Saturday morning visits with us, to get the full effect. They have so much fun in this one corner of our sofa (but believe me...they are also all over the place! lol) He loves taking Papaw's hat off and putting it on his own head, just a little thing, but oh what fun it is for him. My friend Linda always says make some memories and fill it to the brim...well, that's what these two do!
By the way...Ashton's shirt says "I don't sleep..nobody sleeps!" Truer words were never spoken!! LOL

Used a QP made by Mat using Angelscrapper's "Fall Splendor" and "Painted Paper" kits.

Guess who's coming to dinner?

Plans were that CJ (Candace) and "Leiah-Beth" were coming to visit this weekend. But they weren't going to leave until tomorrow night. Well, I just got a call from our son, Greg, (who is the new Papaw) and he is leaving for Charlotte first thing in the morning to bring them back with him. See, he's got this new Papaw thing going on and he can't wait all day for them to get here, so he's going to get them himself. He's been working on the nursery at his house all week and it's ready and waiting. He was so funny tonight when I talked to him..he said "I've got my rocking chair in the living room, the cradle sitting right beside it, bought a case of formula and a case of diapers....I'm good to go!!

In the meantime, I'm standing ready with camera in hand. I just purchased a new one. Nothing wrong with my little Kodak C743 it's taken all the pics you've seen so far...but I convinced my dear Rhett that I needed a new one. I got the Cannon Power Shot SX10-IS. Has 10 mp and 20x zoom. Came with an owners manual with 286 pages...will I ever learn to use all the features, who knows? I guess trial and error method will work for now. LOL

It's the Little Moments

in our lives that make the biggest memories. Yep, this is me and Big Papaw doing all the oohing and awwing over little "Leiah-Beth". (I still like Leiah-Beth, our son and daughter-in law are calling her "Gracie". Since this is their first grandchild they are now Mamaw and Papaw and Rhett and I have been promoted to "Big Mamaw and Big Papaw". LOL

Just one of many...

many of the pictures taken on our visit to Candace and Leiah over the weekend. This is just one of my favorites! I just love this pic, if you could have been there to see the love in her eyes for this precious little one...who, by the way, seems to be the "spittin' image" of her mom.

Story of Mamaw's Wind Chime

How we look forward to Ashton's Saturday morning visits. His "Me-Maw", Melissa is our daughter and she and Ashton visit every Saturday morning, always stopping to pick up breakfast for us. After eating breakfast and listening to Ashton's usual "coffee can/wooden spoon
performance, we made our way to my 'office' where I proceeded to show Melissa all the pictures of our new Leiah that I have on the computer (aren't digital cameras and e-mail just the neatest things, lol). Oh, yes Mam..I have at least 30 pictures just from her first two days! Be prepared, 'cause we are going to Charlotte tomorrow, with my trusty Kodak in hand, to see her in person. I'm so excited, can ya tell? Anyway, (I got kinda off track here) after viewing the pictures, it is such a beautiful fall day here so we ventured onto the veranda. Ashton love my wind chimes and the first pic shows Papaw letting him sit on the banister, he's a happy little camper. Second pic shows Papaw letting him swing my angel wind chime, it makes noise..Ashton loves it. In the third pic, Ashton decides he really likes the angel hanging from the wind chime and decides he wants it for his very own! LOL. (nothing a little super glue can't fix).
It's such little things in life that bring us the most joy and happiness. Like the expression on this little one's face, moments like this are treasures for all time, tucked safely in our hearts. Like my dear friend, Linda always says "go make some memories." Thanks for sharing mine with me today. Hope your day is just as blessed as ours.

Oh my how we love this little one

and we haven't even got to see her in person yet! They live about a 3 hour drive away but "Good Lord Willing", we are making the trip Sunday to meet Leiah Elizabeth Grace in person. Our oldest son, Greg, is Leiah's "Papaw" and he's already decided he's calling her "Gracie". I've kinda decided I'm calling her "Leiah-Beth" (combination of Leiah and Elizabeth) 'cause I just like the sound of it. We always give our grand children nicknames..her mom, Candace Jasmine has always been CJ. Our other grand daughter Tiffani Danielle has always been "Tiffi". Haven't come up with one for Ashton yet.
I know, I'm probably boring y'all silly with these ramblings (sorry bout that), it's just that I'm so excited and feeling so very blessed. Thank you all so much for sharing in our newest little one's arrival.

You decide...

Yes, dear Rhett asks "how in the world do you find anything in that mess?". I say I know exactly where things are...don't touch a thing. So it may take me 30 minutes looking in desk drawers, file cabinets, cubby holes, etc..but eventually I'll come up with said object. LOL
Actually, I have been meaning for months now to sit down with my trusty paper shredder and get rid of "stuff", I mean do I really need to keep the last 9 months worth of electric receipts? Obviously if I hadn't paid them by now I would not have electricity. Then I have note pads on top of note pads with scribbles of things that come to mind and if I don't write it down right then (somewhere) I'll never think of it again. Pages and pages of tutorials printed off, that, one of these days, I'll get around to trying... But, until then I just say it's all by-product of my creativity.
This is my newest WA and it can be found on my other site http://wordartbymissscarlett.blogspot.com/

Thank you, God.

Y'all know how I love my TN. mountains. I just couldn't bring myself to use anything extra on this picture. One taken today on our drive "in the country". The picture doesn't do this view justice...it was absolutely awesome. One of those moments in time when you see something and you just want to stop and say "Thank you, God !"

Humor an old lady for just a second....click on the picture to enlarge it....you'll be blessed.
I used the picture as an overlay and then placed a smaller version on that with a slight bevel inside.

First Signs of Fall

Here, in our area of TN, one of the first signs of fall is when the dogwoods begin to produce their berries. I took this picture today, while my dear "Rhett" and I were out on a drive through the country. Of course, around here, pretty much everywhere is in the "country". Soon the berries will be bright red, these are just beginning to turn, a sign that fall is in the air.

Never Forget

I posted this on Flair and I thought that I had posted it here, but since I don't see it in previous posts, I guess I'm mistaken. Anyway, this is the house that I grew up in until I was around 12 years old. Yep, I'm a country girl through and through...last house in the hollow (literally!). All of my really great childhood memories are centered in and around this old house. How sweet are the memories of playing in the barn loft and in the surrounding woods. It seems the older I get the more vivid my childhood memories become (never mind the fact that I can't remember what I had for breakfast yesterday, lol). I did this page as a follow up to another page, which I'll post later. The real point I'm trying to make, in my own feeble way, is that no matter where you are at this point in your life, you should never ever forget where you came from. Even if where you came from was not all that pleasant, remember it anyway and thank God that He brought you to where you are now. And if you are fortunate enough to have happy childhood memories, still remember to give thanks to God and give Him all the glory for it.
I guess I'm getting a little profound here, but I've been in such a sentimental mood lately, perhaps because family reunion time is coming up soon. Thank you all for looking in and listening to an old ladies' ramblings.

Ya know what they say....

get your ducks in a row. My dear husband keeps telling me these aren't ducks...they are geese! Oh well...close enough. When we were camping, every evening at about 7pm these duck-geese would gather up and play follow the leader to their nightly nesting place up river. You could pretty much set your clock by them.

It's The Little Things

It's the little things in life that give us the most pleasure. Little things...like and an empty coffee can, a wooden spoon and Ashton!
Our daughter Melissa is Ashton's grandma and she and Ashton come to visit every Saturday morning. She always brings small toys for him to play with but he always has the most fun with an empty coffee can and one of my wooden mixing spoons. If they aren't out where he can see them he looks all around until I bring them out. Then we sit around the kitchen table having coffee and listening to the very best drummer in the whole wide world!

It Takes So Little

I don't need a lot to make me happy. A good book, a cold Coke and some sunshine will do the trick. And at night or when it's raining (and we did have a few days of rain while camping), still I just settle in on the couch in the camper, make a fresh pot of coffee and get out my book and I'm a happy camper.

Tiffani and her dad came to visit while we were camping. Things were great until she discovered she couldn't get cell phone service from our campsite. MAJOR problem! How in the world does one survive without texting for a couple of hours??? Mamaw to the rescue...I explained that being in this little valley between two mountains...you just have to walk around until your phone finds a service area. Disaster was avoided when she moved around a little and found the right spot. I don't know how our kids ever made it, growing up without cell phones. Of course, when I was growing up we didn't even have a phone. How did I manage???

Poor Rhett

Bless his heart, he never complains. Last year on his birthday, he was here and I was in AZ because mom has passed away, so I forgot about his birthday ( which was understandable considering the circumstances). This year on his birthday, we were packing up the camper getting ready to bring it back home and I didn't think of it cause I was getting things organized and put away. When it finally dawned on me before we left the campground, I poured him a cup of coffee, got a Little Debbie Honey Bun out of the cabinet, didn't have any candles so I put a wooden match in the middle of it, lit it and took it to him while he was sitting at the picnic table. LOL He's such a sweetheart, he thought it was funny. I did promise to take him out to a really nice dinner in the next few days to make up for my forgetfulness. You know since I had this stroke I can only focus on one thing at a time...and bless his heart...his birthday was not my focus on this day.

Rhett's Project

while we were camping, this little hummingbird literally fell into my lap as I was sitting outside enjoying the sun! I think one of the predator birds must have dropped him from it's grasp. Anyway, Rhett took it upon himself to take care of it. He fed it sugar water, kept him inside at night and put him out on the picnic table during the day. The momma would find him during the day and feed him, she didn't seem to mind that we were always close by as she would fly in right beside us to feed him. It was amazing to watch as he became strong enough to flex his wings and finally he flew away to join the rest of his little family the day before we came home.
